TotalEnergies, nakahanap ng mga bagong oil at gas reserves sa Suriname

Inanunsiyo ng French giant TotalEnergies ang pagkakadiskubre nila sa mga bagong gas at oil reserves sa baybayin ng Suriname at sinabing sisimulan na nila ang exploration sa lalong madaling panahon.

Ang kompanya ay may ilang exploration licences sa nabanggit na South American nation, at ginawa ang anunsiyo kasama ng US firm na APA.

Ayon sa isang press release . . . “TotalEnergies and APA Corporation have made a significant new oil and associated gas discovery at the Krabdagu-1 well, in the central area of Block 58, offshore Suriname. This follows previous discoveries at Maka, Sapakara, Kwaskwasi and Keskesi, and the successfully tested Sapakara South-1 appraisal well.”

May ilan nang “significant” discoveries na napaulat sa Bloc 58 mula pa noong 2020.

Sinabi ng TotalEnergies, na ipagpapatuloy nila ang kanilang “exploration at appraisal strategy” sa Block 58 para matukoy ang “ sufficient resources by year-end 2022 for a first oil development.”

Ang International Energy Agency, na nagpapayo sa mga industriyalisadong bansa sa patakaran sa enerhiya, ay nagpayo noong nakaraang taon na i-scrap na ang lahat ng mga bagong proyekto ng fossil fuel sa roadmap nito, upang makatulong na makamit ang global carbon neutrality sa 2050.
