Quincy Jones at Bond film producers, binigyan ng honorary Oscars

Ilang linggo makaraang bawian ng buhay sa edad na 91, pinagkalooban ng isang honorary Oscars ng film academy ng Hollywood, ang kilalang music producer at composer na si Quincy Jones sa isang gala nitong Linggo.
Ang magkapatid na producers ng James Bond movie franchise na sina Barbara Broccoli at Michael G. Wilson, ay tumanggap naman ng Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award sa taunang Governors Awards ceremony, na dinaluhan ng mga bituin kabilang sina Tom Hanks, Jude Law at Kate Winslet.
Si Jones, na namatay noong Nov. 3, ay nagtrabaho kasama ng mga musikero mula kay Count Basie hanggang kay Frank Sinatra at muling hinubog ang pop music sa kanyang pakikipagtulungan kay Michael Jackson sa loob ng 70 taong karera.
Noong 1971, nagsilbi siya bilang musical director at conductor ng 43rd Academy Awards. Siya ang nagcompose ng musical scores para sa “The Wiz” at “The Color Purple.”
Sinabi ng aktor na si Jamie Foxx tungkol kay Jones, “Even though he lived 91 years, still gone too soon. “
Dagdag pa ni Foxx na pumapel bilang batang Ray Charles sa tulong ni Jones, “Tonight we pay tribute to him for the creativity and brilliance he brought to cinema.”

Isang grupo ng mga mang-aawit na pinamumunuan ni Jennifer Hudson ang nagbigay pugay kay Jones sa pamamagitan ng isang musical performance habang ipinapakita sa mga screen ang mga larawan ng producer habang nagtatrabaho.

Itinatag ni Curtis ang British charity Comic Relief, na nakalikom ng higit sa 1 bilyong pounds ($1.26 bilyon) para tulungan ang mga bata sa buong mundo, kasama ang taunang kaganapan sa pangangalap ng pondo na Red Nose Day.
Ayon kay Hugh Grant, “Not content with saving the British film industry, he decided he also had to try and save the whole bloody world.”
Si Juliet Taylor, isang casting director na nagtrabaho rin sa “Mississippi Burning” at “Hannah and Her Sisters,’ ay ginawaran din ng honorary Oscar.
Sinabi ni Nicole Kidman, “Taylor was to be lauded for ‘the way she opened doors for other women.’ Taylor gave Meryl Streep her first role.”
