Iligal na pagmimina sa Candelaria, Zambales pinaiimbestigahan
Pinaiimbestigahan ni Senador Leila De lima sa Senado ang kaugnayan ng mining operations sa Candelaria, Zambales sa konstruksyon ng mga imprastraktura at reclamation project sa West Philippine Sea.
Naghain si De lima ng Senate resolution no 720 para hilingin na tingnan kung nakakasunod ba sa Environmental laws ang naturang minahan.
Giit ng Senador matindi na ang panganib sa kalikasan ng pagmimina hindi lang sa Candelaria, Zambales kundi sa iba pang panig ng bansa

“It cannot be gainsaid that the adverse effects, disastrous consequences, serious injury and irreparable damage of this continued trend of the destruction of nature to the present generation and to generations yet unborn are evident and incontrovertible,”
Tinukoy ng Senador ang isinumiteng position paper ng Save Candelaria Zambales movement kung saan inaakusahan ang chinese mining firm na Yinglong Steel Corporation na iligal umanong nagmimina sa Zambales.
Kasama na rito ang iligal na pagputol sa mga puno, paggawa ng mga acces road at paggamit ng mga heavy equipment ng walang permit batay umano sa isinagawang inspeksyon ng mga lokal na opisyal doon.
Nakasaad din sa petisyon na ang mga nakukuha sa pagmimina, ginagamit umano sa reclamation project sa West Philippine Sea.

(There is also a need to verify the serious allegations that the materials being extracted in various mining and dredging projects are indeed being used to construct and fortify illegal Chinese infrastructure projects in the WPS,”“The enforcement of existing mining laws and policies should be ensured and the full extent of these laws must be upheld, including penalizing violators of these laws considering the irreparable destruction of illegal mining activities brings to our environment, culture and society,”
