Coldplay, Billie Eilish at Ed Sheeran, lumahok sa global climate, vaccine concerts
PARIS, France (AFP) – Kabilang ang Coldplay, si Billie Jean, at Ed Sheeran sa inanunsyong kasama sa isang araw na multiple cities concerts sa Setyembre 25, para tumulong sa awareness campaign tungkol sa climate change, kahirapan at vaccine distribution.
Sa New York, Paris at Lagos inanunsyong unang gaganapin ang Global Citizen Live, na tatakbo ng 24 na oras at mapapanood sa buong mundo sa pamamagitan ng TV stations at social media.
Makakasama ni Eilish at ng Coldplay sa New York Central Park sina Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Burna Boy, at iba pa.
Pangungunahan naman ni Sheeran ang concert sa Paris kung saan makakasama rin niya ang Black Eyed Peas, HER, at si Doja Cat, habang si Fema Kuti ang mangunguna sa Nigeria.
Marami pang lokasyon at artists ang i-aanunsyo sa susunod pang mga linggo.
Ayon sa NGO Global Citizen . . . “Across six countries, artists will help rally citizens in demanding that governments, major corporations, and philantropists work together to defend the planet and defeat poverty. We are focusing on the most urgent, interrelated threats hitting those in poverty the hardest – climate change, vaccine equity, and famine.”
Ilan pang artists gaya ng BTS, Lorde, Metallica at The Weeknd ang lalahok din sa mga konsierto, sa pamamagitan ng live o filmed performances.
Ang event ay itinaong makasabay ng UN General Assembly sa Setyembre, at itutulak ito hanggang sa G20 summit sa kasunod na buwan at sa COP26 climate meeting sa Nobyembre.
Nagpahayag naman ng suporta sa kampanya si WHO director Tedros Ghebreyesus.
