Magtatanghal sa White House si Elton John sa linggong ito, bilang paggunita sa kaniyang record-breaking career, sa pagpapatuloy ng kaniyang marathon global farewell tour.
Sa anunsiyo ng White House, si President Joe Biden at First Lady Jill Biden ang magiging host ng “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme” na gaganapin sa Biyernes sa South Lawn.
Ayon pa sa White House, “The evening would celebrate the unifying and healing power of music, commend the life and work of Sir Elton John, and honor the everyday history-makers in the audience. Both Bidens will offer remarks at the event.”
Ang pagtatanghal na kasunod ng isang performance noong nakaraang linggo ni James Taylor, ay bahagi ng pagbabalik ng public events sa White House kasunod ng pagluluwag sa COVID-19 restrictions.
Ang 75-anyos na si John, ang top solo artist sa US chart history sa 2019 list ng “Greatest Artists of All Time” ng Billboard, at pangatlo sa overall kasunod ng The Beatles at The Rolling Stones.
Ang kaniyang “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour ay nagsimula sa Allentown, Pennsylvania noong September 2018, at katatampukan ng higit sa 300 performances sa buong mundo, na matatapos sa Sweden sa July, 2024.
