Ang torch relay bago ang Paris Olympics ay dumating na sa Paris, ang French capital at umaasa ang organizers na magiging daan ito ng kasabikan ng mga residente para sa Olympics.

Sinabi ni Henry sa mga mamamahayag, “It’s not something you turn down, on our national day, on the Champs-Elysées, the Olympics in Paris. Just extraordinary.”

Sinabi ng alkalde ng upmarket river-side 7th district ng Paris na si Jean-Pierre Lecoq, “Some residents have shared with us their amazement, as well as the physical impossibility of leaving their homes.”

Ayon sa chief organizer na si Tony Estanguet, “Pushing back the pessimists had been one of my most difficult tasks. My role has been to protect our vision againts everyone who criticizes, those who don’t believe in it, those who would take pleasure in seeing it not go well.”

Dagdag pa niya, “The torch relay had been a huge success nationally, with around five million people turning out to see it since May 8. We’re delighted with how it has gone so far. It has completely met the targets we gave ourselves.”

Ang Olympic flame ay mananatili sa Paris kung saan nakatakda itong salubungin ng can-can dancers sa labas ng sikat na Moulin Rouge cabare show, at pagkatapos ay dadalhin na ito sa Montmartre cathedral.
