PBBM bumiyahe na patungong Indonesia para sa 42nd ASEAN Summit
Bumiyahe na patungong Indonesia si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para daluhan ang 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
Sakay ng PAL Flight PROO1, lumipad mula sa Villamor Air Base sa Pasay City ang Pangulo kasama si First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at ang buong Philippine delegation.
Sa kaniyang departure statement, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na isusulong niya ang community-building efforts sa rehiyon at titiyakin ang kapakanan at seguridad ng mga Pilipino.
Opisyal na nagsimula ang ASEAN Summit sa Labuan Bajo, Indonesia ngayong May 9 hanggang May 11 2023.
“My participation will serve to promote and protect the interests of our country, including our continued efforts towards economic growth, attaining food and energy security, promoting trade and investment, combatting transnational crimes such as the trafficking in persons and protecting migrant workers in crisis situations, amongst others,” pahayag sa talumpati ng Pangulo.
Bukod naman sa kaniyang partisipasyon sa Summit, makiki-bahagi rin ang Pangulo kasama ng kaniyang counterparts sa 15th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, gayundin sa pagpupulong ng ASEAN Leaders kasama ang ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), representatives from the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), ASEAN Youth and High-level Task Force on the ASEAN Community post 2025 vision.
“As the theme of this ASEAN Summit is clearly manifesting, it is once again towards economic growth and to recognize that ASEAN and Southeast Asia have been the partners that the other parts of the world, and i speak therefore of India, I speak of China, I speak of the European Union (EU), the United States, Latin America, even some elements of Africa, look to Southeast Asia as the growth center for the global economy,” pahayag pa ng Pangulo
“That is why, it is very important that we go and continue to discuss amongst other ASEAN Leaders of all the member states on how we can maximize and find that extra energy, that synergy from our working together,” diin pa ng Chief Executive.
Tema ng 42nd ASEAN Summit ngayong taon ang “ASEAN matters: Epicentrum of Growth” at tatayong chairperson si Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Bago naman dumating sa Indonesia ang lahat ng mga ASEAN Leaders ay personal na ininspeksyon ni Pres. Widodo ang mga conference venue maging ang International Media Center (IMC) para sa isasagawang international meet.
Inaasahang tatalakayin ng ASEAN Leaders ang mga isyung may kinalaman sa pagpapanatili ng internal peace sa Southeast Asia sa gitna ng bumabangong geopolitical issues sa Indo-Pacific Region habang pinalalakas ang regional bloc para maging fast-growing, inclusive at sustainable economic region.
