PBBM: Fake news walang puwang sa lipunan
Walang puwang ang fake news sa makabagong lipunan.
Ito ang mensaheng sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa kaniyang talumpati sa 14th Edition International Convention of Information Commissioners (ICIC) kung saan host ngayong taon ang Pilipinas.
Ang ICIC ay isang network na sumusubaybay sa implementasyon ng access sa public information laws and policies sa buong mundo.
Sa pagtitipon, ipinagmalaki ni Pangulong Marcos ang Freedom of Information (FOI) program ng bansa, isa mga unang inisyatibo na inilunsad ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nang manungkulan noong 2016.
Sa kaniyang talumpati, sinabi ng Pangulo na sa pagtataguyod ng FOI program pinaigting ang kampanya laban sa misinformation at disinformation na problema hindi lang ng Pilipinas kundi ng buong mundo.
“Of course, we also have to highlight that the FOI program has greatly advanced campaign against misinformation and disinformation in the country, a problem that within the Philippines also suffer from and all of us do around the world.”
“Like everyone here, we too recognize as a matter of principle that fake news should have no place in modern society,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos sa kaniyang talumpati sa pagtitipon na idinaos sa Pasay City.

Para labanan ang fake news, sinabi ng Pangulo na maglulunsad ang pamahalaan ng programa para sa “media and literacy campaign” na gagawing “digital, multimedia and youth oriented.”
“Our people can be assured of the continued implementation of FOI program in the executive branch through the Presidential Communications Office.”
Nanawagan din ang Chief Executive sa lahat ng nasa gobyerno na maging bukas para itaguyod ang Freedom of Information dahil ito ang pinakamabuti para sa kapakanan ng bansa.
“At this juncture, I reiterate our call not only to the executive branch but to all branches of government to genuinely uphold and give effects to the people’s Freedom of Information in the course of our day to day operations, with good faith, with openness. Undeniably, this is to our best interest as a nation.”
“It is a key in our pursuit of good governance, improve public service and a more progressive and sustainable society,” paliwanag pa ni Pangulong Marcos.
“The ICIC can be assured that the Philippines will continue to promote Freedom of Information with the whole of nation approach we will strive to maintain a government that is not only effective and efficient but also transparent and accountable to our people,” ayon pa sa Pangulo.
Ang pagho-host ng Pilipinas ngayon taon sa ICIC ay kauna-unahan din sa Asia Region.
Sa kaniyang talumpati, sinabi ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil na patunay ang pagdaraos ng patitipon sa bansa bilang testament ng pagkilala ng Gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa access to information bilang fundamental right na dapat itaguyod.
