“We will able to learn from other countries in the Asia Pacific Region specifically the knowledge from Pacific countries have in order to cope with their island vulnerability. In the case of the Philippines, while we are highly urbanized in our major land masses, we do have small islands that need this capacity building,” paliwanag ni Sec. Loyzaga.
“We are basing our budget on the experience of disaster risk reduction of Brisbane last year. The estimate that they had was roughly of about P200-million. However, we will be looking on how we will be able to match both public and private so that amount will not come all to public funds. Right now there is continuing discussion how each department can bear their share,” dagdag na pahayag ng DENR chief.
“This conference comes at eve of World Health Organization lifting of the emergency status of COVID pandemic, therefore it signals an opportunity for the Philippines to fully move on from pandemic and focus on these great challenge of our time,” pahayag pa ni Frasco.
