Binasag ng Swedish Olympic champion na si Armand Duplantis ang sarili niyang record sa men’s pole vault.

Nagawa ng 22-anyos na makatalon ng 6.19 meters (20.3 feet), sa 2022 World Indoor Tour Silver meeting isa Serbian capital Belgrade, para magtakda ng isang bagong record.

Ayon kay Duplantis . . . “I feel like I can jump a lot higher than I’ve jumped. I feel like this is just a start. I think there are a lot more barriers to push, getting into the 6.20s.”

Sa ngayon, tatlong world record na ang nabasag ni Duplantis, dahil una na siyang nakatalon ng 6.17 meters sa Torun, Poland noong February 2020, at 6.18 meters naman sa Glasgow, Scotland.

Dagdag pa nito . . . “The only thing that was on my mind from the beginning was the world record. That was the only thing I cared about today. If I didn’t break the world record, I was going to be upset.”

Aniya . . . “I think I’ve tried 6.19m 50 times. It’s been a long time coming. I’ve never had a height that has given me that much trouble, so it’s a very good feeling. It was really hard fought over these past two years. I’m really happy.”

Si Duplantis ay lalaban sa 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships sa Belgrade sa March 18-20, na gaganapin sa Stark Arena.
