Satellite operators na Eutelsat at OneWeb nagkasundong magsanib
Inanunsiyo ngayong Martes ng French at British satellite operators na Eutelsat at OneWeb, ang plano nilang magsanib at lumikha ng isang “global champion” sa broadband internet, na kakalaban sa US giants gaya ng Starlink ni Elon Musk.
Sa isang joint statement ay sinabi ng Eutelsat at OneWeb na lumagda sila ng isang memorandum of understanding upang magsanib-puwersa para maging isang “leading global player in connectivity… in an all-share transaction.”
Nakasaad pa sa statement na bawat isa ay magkakaroon ng 50-percent stake sa combined entity.
Sa anila’y magiging isang “game-changer” sa industriya, magsasanib ang 36-na malalakas na fleet ng geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) satellites ng Eutelsat at 648 low Earth orbit satellites (LEO) constellation ng OneWeb, na ang 428 ay kasalukuyang nasa orbit.
Ayon kay Eutelsat chief executive Eva Berneke . . . “This ground-breaking combination will create a powerful global player with the financial strength and technical expertise to accelerate both OneWeb’s commercial deployment, and Eutelsat’s pivot to connectivity.”
Pahayag ng dalawang kompanya . . . “The combined entity will be geared towards profitable growth with a potential for “double-digit” increase in both sales and profit over the medium to long term.”
Wika naman ni OneWeb CEO, Neil Masterson . . . “This combination accelerates our mission to deliver connectivity that will change lives at scale and create a fast growing, well-funded company which will continue to create significant value for our shareholders.”
Ang satellite broadband ay nangangako ng connectivity maging sa pinakaliblib na mga lugar nang hindi na mangangailangan ng mga antenna at iba pang imprastraktura.
