Wala pa ring oil spill mula sa tanker na inatake ng Houthis ayon sa Red Sea mission ng EU

Wala pa ring nade-detect na oil spill sa Greek-flagged oil tanker na Sounion sa Red Sea, sa kabila ng na-detect na mga sunog sa main deck ng vessel sanhi ng pag-atake ng Houthis.

Ayon ito sa Aspides, ang Red Sea naval mission ng European Union (EU).

Sinabi naman ng Houthis noong Miyerkoles, na sumang-ayon sila na payagang hilahin ang Sounion na noong Aug. 23 pa nasusunog.

Sa pahayag ng EU mission, nakahanda ito na pangasiwaan ang anumang hakbang, sa pakikipagtulungan sa European authorities at mga katabing bansa, upang maiwasan ang isang “catastrophic environmental crisis.”

Nitong Huwebes ay sinabi ni Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh, “The barrels of crude oil being carried by the Sounion were intact but the vessel itself was leaking some oil from where it was hit and multiple fires were still burning.”
