Wala pa umanong namomonitor na may mga foreign element na nakakapasok sa bansa ang Department of National Defense.
Pero para sigurado ayon kay Defense Sec Gilbert Teodoro, pinalalakas nila ang security at peace settlement sa nga komunidad.
Sila kasi aniya ang mas nakakaalam ng galaw ng tao sa kanilang lugar at kung may mga dayo na dumating.

Si Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Gen Romeo Brawner Jr ay una ng nagpunta aniya sa Marawi para personal na makausap ang mga commander sa grounds para sa pagpapalakas ng security efforts.
Ang Department of Interior and Local Government aniya ay mayroon ring programa para labanan ang violent at radical extremism.

Ayon kay Teodoro, bukod sa banta sa labas at mahigpit rin ang kanilang pagbabantay sa mga itinuturing na local threat mula sa mga terorista o rebeldeng grupo.
Giit ni Teodoro, hindi pwedeng maging kampante dahil baka kahit mga maliliit na grupo ay isabotahe ang mga peace process efforts.
“We have to be on guard, the smaller they are the more. We have to never let our guard down in any threat internally or externally just like the experience our countries in the recent weeks.” giit pa ni Teodoro.
