15 patay sa road accident sa central Canada

Patay ang 15 katao at sugatan ang 10 iba pa matapos magbanggaan ang isang semi-trailer truck at isang bus na may lulang senior citizens, sa Manitoba province sa central Canada.
Ayon sa Canadian police, rumesponde ang kanilang mga tauhan sa isang “mass casualty collision” malapit sa bayan ng Carberry, kanluran ng Winnipeg, habang nagtungo rin sa lugar ang first responders at iba pang Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) units.
Sinabi ni RCMP Manitoba officer Rob Hill, “What I can confirm right now is that a bus carrying approximately 25 people collided with a semi at the intersection of Highway One and Highway Five, most of the people in the minibus were elderly.”
Aniya, “Fifteen people have been confirmed deceased, while 10 others were transported to hospital with various injuries.”
Kinumpirma naman ng mga ospital sa rehiyon na rumesponde sila sa malaking bilang ng mga biktima at lahat ng mga pasilidad ay inalerto.
Nangyari ang banggaan sa Trans-Canada Highway sa hilaga ng Carberry.
Sa kaniya namang opisyal na Twitter account ay nag-post si Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “The news from Carberry, Manitoba is incredibly tragic, I am sending my ‘deepest condolences’ to those who lost loved ones. I can’t imagine the pain you’re feeling, but Canadians are here for you.”
Ayon naman sa tweet ng premier na si Heather Stefanson, “My heart breaks hearing the news of the tragic accident near Carberry. My most sincere condolences go out to all those involved.”
Sinabi pa nito na ang watawat sa legislative building ng lalawigan ay inilagay na sa half-mast, bilang respeto sa mga nasawi.
Ayon sa mga awtoridad, ang highway ay isinara sa magkabilang direksiyon at inabisuhan ang mga motorista na iwasan ang lugar.
Ang naturang banggaan ay tila alingawngaw ng nangyaring trahedya noong 2018, kung saan 15 katao ang namatay sa isang aksidente sa kalapit na western province ng Saskatchewan, nang bumangga ang isang trak sa isang bus na may lulang mga bata na manlalaro ng ice hockey.
