PBBM, US VP Harris nangakong palalakasin ang PH-US relations
Muling nagkaharap sina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at US Vice President Kamala Harris sa official residence nito sa Number One Observatory Circle sa Washington D.C.
Kasama ng Pangulo si First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos na tinanggap ni Vice President Harris kasama si Second Gentleman Doughlas Emhoff.
Sa kanilang muling pagkikita, nangako kapwa sina Pangulong Marcos at Vice President Harrist na isusulong ang mutually beneficial partnerships sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa sa iba’t ibang usapin kabilang na ang digital inclusion at clean energy economy.
Nagpasalamat si Panglong Marcos kay Vice President Harris sa paglalatag ng “groundwork”na nagresulta sa kaniyang official visit sa U.S. Capitol.
“I think that has given us the very attractive opportunity to continue to strengthen that relationship between our two countries in the face, in the context of all of the difficulties and complexities, the rising tensions in our region and the world. And once again, we turn to our American partners, our only treaty partner in the world,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
“After all the different cycles as in any friendship… I was telling (US) Secretary (of State Antony) Blinken yesterday, like any friendship we go through many cycles… We’re very, very happy to be here, to get this opportunity to speak with you and to have spoken with your President,” dagdag na pahayag pa ng Chief Executive.
Pinuri naman ni Vice President Harris ang liderato ni Pangulong Marcos at ang pagsisikap nitong i-priyoridad ang mutual prosperity at security ng dalawang bansa.
Hindi daw nagkakalayo ang kanilang “passion” sa usapin ng seguridad, ekonomiya at clean energy.
Ginunita rin ng US Vice President ang kaniyang naging pagbisita sa Pilipinas noong Nobyembre 2022.
“I want to thank you because the strength and alliance between the United States and the Philippines is probably stronger than ever. Under your leadership, we have been able to continue doing the work that we have that is a priority… lead to prosperity and security,” pahayag ni Vice President Harris sa kaniyang pagtanggap sa mag-asawang Marcos.
“During my visit to the Philippines, we discussed many issues including the importance of clean energy economy. You and I share a passion for that… As well as issues that relate to food security and what we must do around digital inclusion,” pahayag pa ni Vice President Harris.
“And on the issue of security of course, the work that our countries are doing together as it relates to the South China Sea, as it relates to what we must do in terms of continuing to work together through our Coast Guards,” dagdag pa ng US official.
Sa kaniyang naunang bisita sa Pilipinas noong Nobyembre, nagtungo si Harris sa Puerto Princesa, Palawan kung saan niya nakasalamuha ang mga lokal na residente, gayundin ang mga civil society leaders at Philippine Coast Guard officials.
Kasama naman sa naging pagpupulong nina Pangulong Marcos at Vice President Harris sina First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Phillippine Ambassador to United States Jose Manuel Romualdez, Mrs. Maria Lourdes Romualdez, at Ilocos Norte Representative Sandro Marcos.
