Cong. Teves may 5-araw para umuwi sa Pilipinas
Naka-alerto na sa Interpol si suspended Negros Oriental Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr.
Ayon kay Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla, ito ay makaraang ilagay na sa blue notice ng interpol ang kongresista.
Sa ilalim ng blue notice, ipapa-alam sa Pilipinas ng ibang bansa kapag nasa hurisdiksyon ng mga ito si Teves.
“He can’t keep his whereabouts secret anymore because there is an Interpol notice about his movements,” pahayag ni Remulla
“There is already a notice, the blue notice is there already. Actually, what’s happening now is that we are informed of his movement by all jurisdictions once he enters a certain jurisdiction they already informed us of his movement,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Ang pagkakalagay aniya ni Teves sa Interpol notice ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit agad na ipinagbigay-alam ng Timor Leste sa Pilipinas na nandoon ang kongresista at humihingi ng asylum.
Una nang kinumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na hindi pinagbigyan ng Timor Leste ang hirit na political asylum ni Teves.
Ayon sa DFA, binigyan ng limang araw si Teves para lisanin ang Timor Leste o kaya ay maghain ng apela sa pagdeny sa aplikasyon nito.
“The Ministry of Interior of Timor-Leste confirmed that Representative Teves’ application for political asylum has been denied,” ayon sa statement ng DFA.
“In accordance with the decision of the Timor-Leste Government, Representative Teves has been granted a period of five (5) days to depart Timor-Leste. During this time, he also has the option to file an appeal regarding the decision,” saad pa sa DFA statement.
Binigyang- diin naman ni Remulla na walang political persecution kay Teves kundi prosecution kaya walang basehan ang nais nito na asylum.
“Asylum is a term used to seek protection from state from persecution but this is not the case there is no persecution there is prosecution not persecution,” pagdidiin pa ni Remulla.
Hihintayin muna ng DOJ na maihain ang pormal na kaso sa korte laban kay Teves kaugnay sa Degamo killing bago nila ipa-kansela ang pasaporte nito dahil may right to travel ito sa ilalim ng Saligang Batas.
Aalamin din aniya nila kung ginamit ba ni Teves ang diplomatic passport nito.
May impormasyon din umano si Remulla na nagtangka si Teves na kumuha ng “golden passport” na ibinibenta sa ibang bansa.
“I have information that he has sought alam nyo naman tong mga golden passport are actually sold by different states so that you can use other passports for visa free entry in other countries, we can find out,” dagdag na pahayag ni Remulla.
Posible naman aniya sa susunod na dalawang linggo ay matalakay na ang pagdesignate ng Anti Terror Council kay Teves bilang terorista.
Bukod dito ay isusulong din ng DOJ sa korte ang proscription bilang terorista laban sa kongresista at sa gambling group nito na umano’y sangkot sa terorismo.
“I think the proscription process will make life more difficult because then that will give the duty of rendition to all members of the United Nations to arrest person charged with terrorism to deliver to trial to the court to the country where he came from,” ayon pa kay Remulla.
