DFA nanindigan na hindi ito pain at tagamasid lamang sa isyu sa West Ph Sea
Hindi pain ang Pilipinas sa usapin ng West Philippine Sea.
Sa mensahe ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo na binasa ni DFA Assistant Secretary for Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office Marshall Louis Alferez sa National Security Cluster Communication Workshop, sinabi rin ng kalihim na hindi tagamasid o nanonood lamang ang Pilipinas sa mga nagaganap sa pinagaagawang teritoryo.
Iginiit ng opisyal na ang mga isyu sa West Phillipine Sea ay hindi lamang sa pagitan lamang ng mga malalaking bansa gaya ng mga pinalalabas ng ibang panig.
Kailangan aniyang proteksyunan ng Pilipinas ang mga karapatan at interes at dapat umakto nang iisa laban sa mga intimidasyon at harassment alinsunod sa mga international law.
Ipinunto pa ni Manalo na hindi dapat pumayag ang Pilipinas na ilarawan ito bilang mga aggressor o mga lumalabag sa mga international law sa WPS.
“There are some that want to project the WPS as a matter between great powers, and we are just pawns in this game. This is a notion we fully reject…involvement in this maritime and territorial struggle of global importance is happening at the behest of the Philippines – we are not bystanders to situation. We need to act to protect our interests and we need to act as cohesively as possible.”
