Human Rights Watch, hiniling kay Marcos na itigil na ang ‘war on drugs’
Hiniling ng Human Rights Watch (HRW) sa presidential candidate at dating Senador Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., na agad aksiyunan ang sitwasyon ng karapatang pantao sa Pilipinas.
Ang pahayag ay ginawa ng international group, sa harap ng pangunguna ni Marcos sa presidential race ng 2022 National and Local Elections.
Sinabi ni Phil Robertson, Deputy Asia Director ng HRW, dapat magdeklara si Marcos ng pagtatapos sa ‘war on drugs’ na nagreresulta sa umano’y extrajudicial killing.
Dapat din aniyang ipag-utos ni Marcos ang imbestigaston at pagsasampa ng kaukulang kaso laban sa mga opisyal na responsable sa hindi makatarungang mga pagpatay.
Aniya. . . “Marcos should publicly order the military, police and other security forces to cease targeting activists, human rights defenders and journalists for killing and other rights violations.”
Nararapat din aniya na ihinto na ang ‘red-taggging’ o pag-aakusa sa mga aktibista at kritiko ng gobyerno na miyembro o tagasuporta ng komunistang grupo.
Ayon pa kay Robertson, kailangan ang buong kooperasyon ni Marcos sa imbestigasyon ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ukol sa umano’y “crimes against humanity” na iniuugnay kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at sa iba pang opisyal.
Aniya . . . “He should support the Philippines rejoining the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. He should otherwise seek to reverse human rights violations by the Duterte administration, notably by dropping the charges against Senator Leila de Lima and ordering her release from detention.”
