Joint Investigation sa Recto Bank incident, magpapahina sa claim ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine sea
Nagbabala ang mga Senador na maaring humina ang maritime claim ng
Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea kapag pinayagan ang joint investigation sa Recto Bank incident.
Tutol si Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon sa Joint investigation
sa China dahil paglabag ito sa international treaties at tila
pagpapawalang-bisa sa jurisdiction ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine
Sea.
Senador Drilon:
“I am opposed to a joint investigation with China. We should not allow
it. The law is on our side. There are clear violations of international treaties and our local laws committed by the Chinese vessel. a joint investigation will only serve their interest, not ours”.
Iginiit ni Drilon na batay sa desisyon ng Permanent Court of
Arbitration noong 2016, ang Recto Bank ay bahagi ng 200-nautical mile
exclusive Economic Zone ng Pilipinas.
Bukod sa paglabag sa International Law, labag din sa Philippine
Fisheries code ang ginawa ng mga Chinese dahil pumasok sila sa Fishery
and Aquatic Resources na ekslusibo sa mga Pilipino.
Iginiit rin ni Senador Panfilo Lacson na hindi na kailangan ang Joint
investigation dahil nangyari ang insidente sa karagatang sakop ng
Pilipinas.
Bagamat naiintindihan nya raw ang intensyon ng administrasyon na
paigtingin ang Bilateral relations ng Pilipinas sa China, kailangan pa
ring unahin ng pamahalaan ang mas importanteng isyu ang pagtatanggol
sa soberenya at territorial integrity ng bansa.
Senador Lacson:
“While the intention of this administration may be laudable in trying
to preserve our country’s bilateral relations with China, presumably
for political and economic reasons in order to uplift the living
standards of our people, we should also consider the more important
issue of sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
