Malakanyang, dumistansya sa pagbabalik-trabaho ni Chief Justice Sereno

Ayaw makisawsaw ng Malakanyang sa pagbabalik trabaho ni Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Si Chief Justice Sereno ay nagbalik na sa kanyang opisina sa Supreme Court matapos ang dalawang buwang wellness leave.

Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque na panloob na usapin ng Hudikatura kaya hindi dapat makialam ang Ehekutibo sa ilalim ng separation of power ng co-equal branch alinsunod sa probisyon ng Konstitusyon.

Ayon kay Roque iginagalang ng Malakanyang ang Judicial Independence.

Ang leave ni Chief Justice Sereno ay batay narin sa En banc resolution ng mayorya ng mahistrado ng Korte Suprema dahil sa kinakaharap ng Punong Mahistrado na Quo Warranto petition na isinampa ng Office of the Solicitor General. 

Secretary Harry Roque:

“On the case of CJ Sereno, the decision of Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno to end her indefinite leave and the reported ruling of the quo warranto petition against the Chief Justice are internal matters to the High Court.

The Executive recognizes judicial independence and respects the separation of powers of the three branches of government, including a functioning judiciary”.
