Mga negosyo at consumer na magsasamantala ngayong ECQ, pinakakasuhan
Pinababantayan ni Senadora Imee Marcos ang mga pamilihan, supplier ng medical equipment at supermarkets sa NCR Plus at iba pang lugar na kung saan napaulat ang panic buying at hoarding ngayong may umiiral na Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Sinabi ni Marcos na chair ng Senate Committee on Economic Affairs na dapat imonitor at kasuhan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang mga consumer at mga negosyong magsasamantala.
Tinukoy ni Marcos ang ulat na nagkakaubusan ng oxygen tanks at accessories nito sa Cebu city at Aklan dulot ng biglaang pagsipa ng Covid 19 cases.
Nagbabala si Marcos na maaaring maharap sa mabigat na parusa ang sinumang hoarders at profiteers sa ilalim ng Consumer Act or Republic Act No. 7394 at Price Act o Republic Act 7581.
Statement Senador Marcos:
“Under the Consumer Act, if found to have committed an unfair and unconscionable sales act or practice, an administrative sanction of up to P300,000.00 may be imposed and/or imprisonment of up to one (1) year. For profiteering, the Price Act provides for the imposition of fine of up to P2,000,000.00 and/or imprisonment of up to 15 years”.
Para maiwasan ang pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin, iminungkahi ng Senador na magpatupad muli ang gobyerno ng 60-day price freeze sa essential goods at medical supplies and equipment, kabilang na ang oxygen tanks.
