Mga Senador, tutol na magsagawa ng botohan sa pamamagitan ng mailing system

Tutol ang ilang Senador sa panukalang magsagawa ng botohan sa pamamagitan ng mailing system.
Ayon kay Senate President Vicente Sotto III, mas prone kasi ito sa pandaraya.
Kwestyon ni Sotto, sino ang tatanggap ng mga boto? kailangan ba itong gawin nationwide at paano malalaman kung totoo o hindi ang ipinapadalang boto kung sa pamamagitan lamang ito ng sulat.
Statement, Senate Pres. Tito Sotto:
“Sino tatanggap? Nationwide? Saan padadala, Post office? Kailan bibilangin? Sino magbibilang? Paano kung may mag-leak ng results whether true or fake? Any of those procedures can be cheated!”
Iginiit naman ni Senador Franklin Drilon na sa kasalukuyang sistema ng eleksyon sa bansa, talamak na ang reklamo ng pandaraya at vote buying na mas lalala pa kapag pinayagan ang panukala ni Senador Imee Marcos.
Tutol rin si Drilon sa panukala dahil mahihirapan ang Comelec na imonitor ang ganitong proseso.
Senador Franklin Drilon:
“We do not have the infrastructure that is needed to assure our people that voting by mail will reflect the true intent of our people. There are even complaints about rampant vote buying and intimidation in a system where only personal voting is allowed. You can imagine the kinds of complaints we will get in voting by mail where it is difficult to monitor. Our current system simply does not permit voting my mail as a process that will accurately reflect the will of the people”.
