NBA, inaprubahan nang ipagbili ang Utah Jazz
LOS ANGELES, United States (AFP) – Pormal nang inaprubahan ng NBA Board of Governors na ibenta ang Utah Jazz sa software developer na si Ryan Smith nitong Biyernes, kung saan malugod na tinanggap at ibinilang na “fantastic addition” ang tech billionaire sa liga.
Nakuha ni Smith, co-founder at chief executive ng Utah software company na Qualtrics, ang kontrol sa koponan mula sa Miller family, may-ari ng club sa loob ng 35-taon, bago unang napaulat ang pagbebenta nito noong Oktubre.
Ayon kay NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. . .”Ryan Smith is a forward-thinking, community-minded entrepreneur and business leader who will be a fantastic addition to our league.”
Ang bentahan ay napaulat na nagkakahalaga ng $1.66 billion (1.36 billion euros). Sa ranking ng Forbes magazine, ang Jazz ay nasa pang-21 kung ang pag-uusapan ay “value” sa kalipunan ng 30 clubs ng NBA.
Ayon sa Forbes, ang halaga ng Jazz ay $1.55 billion.
Dahil sa nabanggit na bentahan, na kay Smith na ang majority interest sa koponan, sa Vivint Arena na tahanan ng Jazz, at sa developmental basketball and baseball clubs sa Salt Lake City.
Si Smith, na matagal nang residente ng Utah, ay maraming taon nang corporate partner ng Jazz, kabilang na ang isang philanthropic patch na kumita ng $25 million nitong nakaraang mga taon.
Mananatili naman sa Miller family ang minority interest sa Jazz, na natalo sa Denver sa first round ng playoffs.
