NBI iimbestigahan ang mga nagmamanipula sa mga presyo ng baboy, gulay at iba pang food commodities
Papasok na rin ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa imbestigasyon sa mga hoarders at profiteers na nagmamanipula sa mga presyo ng baboy at iba pang basic food commodities.
Sinabi ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na maglalabas siya ng kautusan para kumalap ang NBI ng mahahalagang impormasyon na magagamit para mahabol ang mga nanamantala sa presyo at hoarders ng mga pangunahing pagkain.
Ayon sa kalihim, ipinahayag ng DOJ sa Department of Agriculture at Department of Trade and Industry ang kahandaan nito na lumahok sa binuong sub-task group on economic intelligence.
Ilan pa sa makakasama ng DOJ sa sub-task group ay ang DILG, PNP, BOC, Philippine Competition Commission, National Security Council at National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
Una nang ipinagutos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa DA at DTI na makipag-ugnayan sa mga law enforcement agencies para matugis ang mga smugglers at iba pang nagsasamantala sa presyo ng mga food commodities bunsod ng pagtaas ng presyo sa merkado ng baboy at manok.
SOJ Menardo Guevarra:
“We have expressed to the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry our willingness to participate in the proposed sub-task group on economic intelligence. Pursuant to that manifestation, the DOJ will issue a department order directing the NBI to gather actionable information that may be used to run after hoarders and profiteers reportedly manipulating the prices of pork, vegetables, and other basic foodstuff”.
