Operasyon ng LRT-1, sususpendihin ng tatlong Linggo para sa upgrade works
Isasara ang Light Rail Transit Line 1 sa loob ng tatlong Linggo para makumpleto ang kinakailangang pag-a-upgrade sa signaling system nito.
Sa kanilang advisory, sinabi ng Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), operator at maintenance provider ng LRT-1, na sususpendihin ang operasyon nito sa Nov. 28, 2021; Jan. 23, 2022; at Jan. 30, 2022.
Ayon sa LRMC . . . “LRMC, together with its contractor, will be performing a series of test runs and trial runs along the LRT Line 1 on the identified dates to confirm the readiness of the new signaling system for LRT-1.”
Dagdag pa nito . . . “Railway signaling systems are used to direct railway traffic and keep trains always clear of each other, likening it to a ‘traffic light system’ but for trains.”
Sinabi rin ng LRMC na ang pag-a-upgrade sa bagong “Alstom signaling system,” ay mahalaga para ma-accommodate ang commercial use ng bagong 4th-generation trains ng LRT-1 na patatakbuhin sa kalagitnaan ng 2022.
Kaugnay nito, hiningi ni Enrico Benipayo, LRMC Chief Operating Officer, ang unawa ng mga pasahero at binigyang-diin na ang gagawing upgrade ay pakikinabangan sa mahabang panahon.
