Pagpapalawig ng termino ng mga opisyal ng BARMM, inendorso na sa plenaryo ng Senado
Sisikapin ng Senado na ihabol ang pagpapatibay sa panukalang batas na maipagpaliban ang kauna-unahang eleksyon sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
Inendorso na ni Senador Francis Tolentino, chairman ng Senate Local Government Committee sa plenaryo ng Senado ang Senate Bill No. 2214 na layong ilipat sa 2025 ang eleksyon sa BARMM na nakatakda sa susunod na taon.
Ito’y para mabigyan pa ng karagdagang panahon ang Bangsamoro Transition Authority na gawin ang kanilang mandato na naantala dahil sa epekto ng Pandemya.
Senador Tolentino:
“The global pandemic we are facing has posed significant challenges on the accomplishment of the priority programs and projects of the BTA, as it has for the national government as a whole. Development projects had to take a back seat to the formulation and implementation of an effective response to the global health crisis“.
Sa panukala, aamyendahan ang Section 13 ng Article 16 ng Bangsamoro Organic Law para mapalawig ng tatlong taon ang termino ng mga nakaupong opisyal ng rehiyon.
“COVID-19 contributed to the delay, among others, in the execution of the plans of the Bangsamoro government, responding to the impact of COVID-19 has been a challenge in the BTA and all government leaders. This piece of legislation is a testament to our continued efforts to maintain peace and push for inclusive growth in the BARMM region. This is elusive, but it is attainable”.
