Puwersa ng Navy at Coastguard sa West Phil. Sea, hindi dapat iurong ng Gobyerno
Saludo ang mga Senador sa matagumpay na pagtaboy ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine Navy sa ilang barko ng China sa West Philippine sea.
Pero sinabi ni Senador Panfilo Lacson, Chairman ng Senate Defense Committee, hindi ito dapat magresulta ng pagiging kampante ng mga otoridad.
Dapat aniyang palaging alerto at listo ang puwersa ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at AFP na nakatalagang magbantay sa mga bahaging pag-aari ng Pilipinas upang hindi masalisihan dahil hindi malayong pumasok ang mga dayuhan kapag sila ay nakalingat.
Senador Ping Lacson:
“We must not let our guard down. Since the 1990s, China has already made three incursions into our Exclusive Economic zone, Scarborough Shoal, Panatag Shoal and now, Julian Felipe Reef. They are likely to do so again if we relax”.
Iginiit rin ni Senador Franklin Drilon na dapat ipagpatuloy ng militar ang megaphone diplomacy.
Hinimok rin ni Drilon ang mga otoridad na ilantad ang iligal na aktibidad ng China sa WPS.
Senador Drilon:
“We must continue to expose these illegal acts of China. That is why megaphone diplomacy, as the Chinese foreign minister would call it, is maybe the appropriate course that we have today so that we can keep China on its toes insofar as the world forum is concerned”.
