Sputnik V vaccine ng Russia, aprubado na sa India
INDIA (AFP) – Binigyan na ng India ng awtorisasyon ang Sputnik V vaccine ng Russia para sa emergency use.
Ang Sputnik V ang ikatlong bakuna na inaprubahan ng India, kasunod ng Oxford-AstraZeneca at Covaxin, na dinivelop ng Indian firm na Bharat Biotech.
Ang mga rekomendasyon ng isang isang expert panel (SEC) ay ginamit para awtorisahan na ang paggamit sa Sputnik V.
Ayon sa health ministry ng India . . . “The SEC recommended for grant of permission for restricted use in emergency situations subject to various regulatory provisions.”
Sinabi ni G.V. Prasad, co-chair ng pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, na masaya ang kanilang kompanya na nakakuha na sila ng emergency use authorisation.
Aniya . . . “With the rising cases in India, vaccination is the most effective tool in our battle against Covid-19.”
Nitong Lunes, ang India ay nakapagtala ng higit sa 161,000 mga bagong kaso — ang ika-pitong sunod na araw na higit 100,000 infections ang naitatala.
Ang Sputnik V, na pinopondohan ng Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), ay may kasunduan na sa India para sa produksyon ng 852 million doses.
Sinabi ni RDIF chief executive Kirill Dmitriev . . . “The approval was a major milestone after extensive cooperation on clinical trials of the shot in India. We believe by June, we will really be at good production capacity in India and will become a very meaningful player in vaccination programme in India.”
Ayon naman sa virologist na si Shahid Jameel . . . “It’s good news as it will boost the supply of vaccines in India… but it’s not going to do too much for the current surge (in cases).”
